Assistant Director (Stipend-Based)
Stipend: $300 (paid at the end of the production run)
Reports To: Director
Overview
The Assistant Director supports the Director during rehearsals and the production process, helping ensure the artistic vision of the show is effectively carried out in a collaborative storefront theater environment.
Responsibilities
Attend all rehearsals and assist with rehearsal management
Attend tech, previews, opening night, understudy run, and strike
Take occasional blocking notes
Support actors and communicate the director’s notes
Collaborate with the Stage Manager and production team
Assist during tech rehearsals and opening week
Lead understudy rehearsals
Qualifications
Interest or experience in directing, acting, or theater production
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Compensation
$300 stipend upon completion of the production.

The Head of Operations is responsible for supporting the day-to-day logistical and administrative functions of The Village Theater. This role helps ensure that productions, events, and organizational activities run smoothly by coordinating internal processes, managing operational systems, and supporting communication across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and organize the company’s operational systems, calendars, and internal workflows.
Coordinate logistics for productions, rehearsals, meetings, and company events.Support production teams by helping track schedules, resources, and space usage.
Maintain organizational documents, databases, and shared files.Help develop and implement processes that improve efficiency and organization.
Work closely with artistic leadership to ensure operational needs are met for upcoming projects.
Qualifications
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Comfortable with shared digital tools (e.g. Google Drive)
Interest in supporting a collaborative theater environment.
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per week, with occasional additional availability during production periods.About the Role
This is a volunteer leadership position ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, coordinating logistics, and helping creative teams operate efficiently. The Head of Operations plays a key role in sustaining the infrastructure that allows the company’s artistic work to thrive. -
The Community Partnership Liaison serves as the primary connection between The Village Theater and the community partner. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with local organizations whose mission aligns with the theme of our production.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, build, and maintain relationships with local community organizations.
Develop partnerships that support productions, events, workshops, and community programming.
Serve as the main point of contact for external collaborators and community partners.
Coordinate cross-promotional opportunities and community outreach efforts.
Help organize community-centered events or partnership initiatives.
Facilitate post-show dialogues.
Work with the marketing and leadership teams to promote programs to broader audiences.
Track partnerships and maintain a database of community contacts and opportunities.
Qualifications
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Interest in community engagement, outreach, and arts advocacy.
Organized and proactive with the ability to follow up and maintain partnerships.
Comfortable representing the theater in meetings, events, and public-facing settings.
Familiarity with the local arts or nonprofit community is a plus.
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per week, with occasional additional time for events, meetings, or partnership activities.About the Role
This is a volunteer position ideal for someone passionate about connecting the arts with the broader community. The Community Partnership Liaison helps grow the theater’s network and ensures the company remains actively engaged with the people and organizations around it. -
The Box Office Manager oversees ticketing operations and front-of-house coordination for The Village Theater’s productions. This role helps ensure a smooth and welcoming audience experience by managing ticket sales and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
Manage ticketing setup and sales for productions and events.
Maintain and update the company’s ticketing platform, including show listings, pricing, and availability.
Track ticket sales and provide basic sales reports to leadership as needed.
Coordinate box office operations during performances, including will-call and walk-up sales.
Recruit, schedule, and support box office volunteers when needed.
Communicate with patrons regarding ticket questions, exchanges, and general inquiries.
Work with the marketing team to ensure ticketing information is accurate and accessible across platforms.
Qualifications
Strong organizational and customer service skills.
Attention to detail and comfort managing records and transactions.
Ability to remain calm and helpful in fast-paced performance environments.
Comfortable learning and using digital ticketing platforms and spreadsheets.
Prior box office, hospitality, or customer service experience is helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per week during pre-production and marketing periods, with additional availability during performance runs.Specific times and dates are as follows:
July 24-August 8: Fridays 7-10pm, Saturdays 2-5pm, 7-10pm, Sundays 2-5pm
Nov 12- Nov 23: Fridays 7-10:30pm, Saturdays 7-10:30pm, Sundays 2-5:30pm
About the Role
This is a volunteer position ideal for someone who enjoys organization, customer service, and supporting the audience experience. The Box Office Manager plays an important role in connecting the company’s work with its patrons and ensuring performances run smoothly from the moment audiences arrive. -
The Treasurer oversees the financial health and accountability of The Village Theater. This role will serve on the board of our nonprofit and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting processes, and helping ensure our nonprofit organization operates in a financially responsible and transparent manner.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and track the organization’s financial records, including income, expenses, and reimbursements.
Manage the company’s bank accounts and monitor cash flow.
Assist in developing and maintaining the organization’s annual budget.
Prepare periodic financial reports for leadership or the board.
Ensure proper documentation and organization of receipts, invoices, and financial records.
Support the preparation of materials needed for tax filings and nonprofit compliance (in coordination with an accountant).
Assist leadership in making financially informed decisions about productions, programming, and operations.
Qualifications
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfort working with spreadsheets and basic financial tracking tools.
Integrity and discretion when handling financial information.
Basic knowledge of budgeting or bookkeeping is helpful; nonprofit financial experience is a plus.
Interest in supporting the sustainability of a small arts organization.
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per week, with additional time during budgeting periods, production planning, or tax preparation.About the Role
